Naka-Kon 2011! I will be there!

BEHOLD! This is what I have been doing in secret for the past two months!

I was planning to wait to post information about my attending Naka-Kon until the Artist Alley and Vender information was officially on the Naka-Kon Exhibit Hall page, but alas, with a less then a month until the Convention I was too excited to stay quiet! >w<
Naka-Kon 2011 will take place February 18-20th.

Naka-Kon is the Kansas City area's big anime convention (Naka-Kon 2011 Official Website). I am not aware of any others, but if there are any more in this area I would love to know about them! I have gone to Naka-Kon a couple times, and I almost got a table in the Artist Alley last year.

This year, I DO have a table in the Artist Alley! And for the past two months I have been preparing my goods for selling!

So far, I have gone through Dowsing and edited, proofread, re-toned, and even taken out a page to make it acceptable for printing. Recently I have re-uploaded all of Dowsing, so my web readers can see the changes. (Click here to read from the start!)

After that, I started printing Dowsing. At this point I have 100+ Books printed off, assembled, stapled, and folded. (I did all the book assembling by hand because hiring a print shop to do the printing would have been rather expensive...) That took a while, but it was worth it because seeing the books printed off gives me a feeling of accomplishing something.



In this picture you can see all the books I have made so far neatly stacked in The Benign Box and The Case of Containment. And also appearing in the picture is The Black Box of Brilliant Bookmarks!

After printing some Dowsing books, I made bookmarks to give out at Naka-kon for FREE! They are business card-like in the manor that they are free, and that I plan to give them to everyone that I can. There are five different bookmarks, and different colored ribbons for the bookmarks. Each bookmark will have each color, so they are all mixed up, and varied.

I was told that they seem like the cheesy bookmarks you might find in an elementary school library to encourage children to read... but I still like them! The cheesy-ness adds to the awesomeness of the bookmarks.

I have also designed a business card to pass out at Naka-Kon, but I still need to print those off. Here is the business card though:



These three things will be the main attraction for my Artist Alley Table, but I still have a lot of things to do before I am done. There are also several things that I wish to finish and add to the list of things I can sell. If I have the time I will add prints to sell, and if I am able to finish them satisfactorily, I will sell some paper dolls.

I still need to make some shiny things for the table its self to draw people to it. I will post more about that after I make something shiny!

And, to end my long post, I shall post my conflicting feelings of the upcoming event! I hope it will go well though!

Woo~ Now I am done with the printing out and cutting of my business cards, and I have used up all of my ribbon, so I guess that means I am done with the bulk of my preparations!

Now I just need to figure out how to decorate the table... 0.o

Haha, Cons are super interesting! I dunno about you "needing" to go, but they are very exciting. If you do plan on going this year, it will be a little expensive. Most people pre-register for the con for that reason. If you dont pre-register it will cost $50 for a full three day pass, but about $30 for one day.
Its at the Hyatt Regency Crown Center, which for you Tanuki-san, would be about an hour+ drive.

it was nice to meet you at Naka kon! picked up a businesses card and after wards went and read the comic. i like it so far.

i think i also got one of the bookmarks too.

I am very interested in Motaku! I had no idea there was more then one Anime Convention in Kansas City, I shall have to look into this further!

i have been there actually i worked there last year, and i believe this will be its 3rd or 4th year. its not as big as naka kon but i have a ton of fun at both.

Well obviously I wasn't able to go but, I do look forward to next year. I am determined to go. If I do come next year I'll be bringing along my girlfriend. She has always wanted to go to a con and I don't think she has formally met you *thinks*. Anyway... Yes that would be good. I seem to forget when things roll along and don't realize they are soon till its too late.

How'd it go this year by the wayside? Sell lots of stuff?
