Beautiful colors...
So last night I worked on a picture for one of my sisters who is currently away at a 3 week scholar program (MSA). This is what resulted:

I really wanted to focus on a painterly style that LOOKS simple, but practically every stroke is defining.
Also, just in the past month or so I have learned SOOOOO many good tricks to sync my colors and make them amazingly vibrant. I really REALLY like how the colors turned out in this one (thank you Hue/Saturation, Color balance, and levels!!!)
I used no reference for either the characters, colors, and background...it all came from spontaneous personal whims. X_x

Re: Beautiful colors...
That is pretty cool! I think the lighting is a little off but I still like it!! :3 And it gave me an idea of a pic in my head.

Re: Beautiful colors...
Yah, the lighting is off. Part of the problem is that the whole drawing/painting was spontaneous. haha! Hopefully if I planned it a little better I would've avoided that...but that is still pretty hard when making everything up.
Thanks for the comment/critique. I enjoyed it.
Re: Beautiful colors...
I always like the texture you have to your art, it’s something I rarely see in digital art work. I don't like to add texture because I have no idea how it is going to turn out, so it’s interesting to see how you use it. One thing that I like a lot about this piece of art is that you have some thin line work. I think that in its self adds sooooo much to the whole thing. I shall attempt to explain why:
If I can pick on a more different picture you have done recently:
(it cropped it funny, sorry about that)
There are no lines, which is normal for a painting, but in this case, it lacks solid definition, like it's a picture that was taken out of focus. There is no dark dark shadows, or lines to give it a nice crisp look where it needs it (the face). The back ground looks good, it can be blurred out a bit to make you focus on the important part, the face. But the face is out of focus too. I don’t think you need lines over the whole thing, or lines at all, but I think lines where the focal point is (the face) would be make it look so much more in focus. It would give it that nice punch, and cause the viewers eye to know exactly what to look at. It would push the face out of the background, and give it depth.
That being said, you did good using lines to create depth in this one:

The lighting and shading are a bit rougher(I don't think you spent as much time on this one) but I think you did much better with focusing your viewer on what is important in the image. The car and buildings in the back ground do not have lines, so they are pushed into the background. The 'No Parking' sign has a thin little outline, so it is brought forward and is the same depth from the running protagonist.
Overall, I am pleased that you have branched out and decided to work spontaneously ^.^ Keep up the good work!

I'm pretty sure I know what you mean, but sometimes what you are saying is not necessarily what I am understanding...besides for everyone's else's sake it might be best if you SHOWED me by editing my picture! ^_^ I won't mind at all...just tweak it and re-post. (Though don't spend alot of time on it if you do. X_x haha)
Fixed?
I am not sure if this is the look you are going for... but this is what I mean by adding definition.

world of depth!
Wow that adds a whole world of depth! 0_o dat's pretty cool. Your right, having at least some definition to the head really punches it forward...and it doesn't distract much from the 'non-line' style I colored the picture in! I also like your use of selective linework...(something I need to work on.)
thanks! ^_^
thanks! ^_^
Re: Beautiful colors...
She's totally right, lol! Adding some lines or soft shadows can really enhance your work and make it POP out.
